Our Story

The land that makes up Checkmate Country Manor has been in the Mussatto family for over 50 years.  It was started as a Quarter Horse farm by Ray Mussatto.  By the grace of God and a lot of hard work, it has become Oklahoma’s premier poultry farm and offers the ultimate in country elegance as a venue for any type of get-together or an overnight farm stay.

It is currently owned by Tony Mussatto, Ray's son.  Tony, along with his daughter, Breanna and granddaughter, Arabella, runs the farm and continues to make it one of Oklahoma’s amazing destinations.  Anyone can experience its unique charm by doing an overnight farm stay or renting it as a venue for any type of party or get-together.  The farm can accommodate any need that someone may have and can accommodate up to 250 people.

THE TRANSFORMATION……… The current farm was Tony's vision. It accommodates his background in all of the things he loves to do.  From landscaping, building, creating and putting customers see or at the forefront of the farm’s true mission.  The landscaping gives a park-like experience. The river, falls, and pond are one of the highlights of the farm and are, without a doubt, a favorite for all of the animals. The covered dock with a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen lets anyone take in the sights and sounds of the farm. The barn was custom-designed and hand-built from scratch to become one of the most unique barns in all of Oklahoma.

The farm is a combination of country elegance, inventiveness and stunning beauty.  It has taken years to transform the farm and offers a multitude of wonderful things to experience.  Its operations as a poultry farm, venue for parties and overnight farm stay work in perfect harmony. It has all of the ingredients for anyone to enjoy themselves and make wonderful memories.

A driving force behind the farm in its current condition is Tony’s granddaughter, Arabella.  Simply put, a Papa and his granddaughter have worked countless hours together to make something truly special.  Every weekend, you will find both of them on the farm working and assisting customers.

Arabella has been the inspiration behind what makes Checkmate Country Manor one of Oklahoma’s finest farms.  It all started with 16 baby chicks.  Now the farm has a flock of over 100 hens, including 30 different breeds.  The farm also has horses, sheep, ducks, geese and rabbits for all visitors to get to experience and enjoy.

The custom barn has an amazing place to stay the night.  Arabella calls it her “penthouse.”   It truly offers a unique, elegant and quiet getaway from the chaotic world.  Guests will find all of the amenities needed to make their stay special.

The flock of hens then led to the farm raising and caring for 1000’s of chicks, pullets and laying hens each year.  The quality of their animals, along with emphasis on caring for them, produces a quality of chicken that is unmatched. Customers from a five-state region come to Checkmate Country Manor for their hens.  The farm also provides an assortment of 20-plus colors of organic eggs for sale.  The priority is on customer service and providing the most natural and highest quality chicken possible, no matter the expense or the amount of work it takes to achieve this.

Words and pictures do not do the farm justice. All are invited to come experience all of its offerings for themselves.  With many blessings from God, Checkmate Country Manor, along with a little girl who started with 16 chicks and loves animals, is truly what gives meaning to what the farm calls “GOOD MEDICINE”.

We are reminded of a song by Toby Mac, “ Looks Like Somebody Prayed.”  Checkmate Country Manor is a perfect example of this song and its lyrics.
